Rev 6-16 Wrath of God follows sixth seal rapture of all Christians

The purpose of this post is to dispel the notion of a hidden rapture occurring  before the visible appearance of Jesus Christ. The idea of a hidden rapture is a predominant evangelical teaching today.  It was first popularized by John Darby in 1827 and then other prominent theologian’s embraced the idea and made this errant teaching more widespread in the 1970’s until the present by their writings and radio broadcasts.

Evangelicals who repeat this pre-tribulation notion almost always acknowledge the necessity of a second tribulation rapture, the one described in the Bible, which they have convinced themselves is not meant for them. They firmly believe they will be whisked safely away in secret while others who come to faith after their unseen departure will be the unfortunate ones who must also endure the Great Tribulation.  I hope to demonstrate the dishonor and cowardice of this viewpoint made popular by those who have sold their idea to the multitudes and in the process made themselves rich in this world. These teachers remain firmly entrenched in their position and unable to change their illogical viewpoint because of the words penned in their own name which they have both copyrighted and sold.

Scripture clearly indicates that there is only going to be one rapture for all Christians and that it will happen during the great tribulation described in Revelation.   I urge all Christians to wake up to the idea that the body of Christ has never been divided for we all partake in the grace of Christ.   At regular communion there is only one loaf and cup shared among all Christians.  Logic and reason alone would dictate that the Father will not rapture the strongest and most faithful Christians out of harms way only to leave the babes in Christ to fend for themselves against the beast of Revelation.  Rather all Christians will be bound together as one body in Christ and will endure the Great Tribulation together.

The  Apostolic testimonies of Paul and Peter describe a tribulation rapture as I hope to demonstrate. Likewise this same event is re-enforced by the Revelation of Jesus Christ to the Apostle John.   I hope you find blessing and encouragement in reading this as I did while writing it down.

Apostle Paul’s Prophecy

Anti-Christ will precede the Day of the Lord

Paul followed up to the Thessalonian church with a second letter to clarify  that Jesus will not come until after anti-Christ is revealed.

2Th 2:1 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers,
2Th 2:2
not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come.
2Th 2:3
Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for  that day will not come  until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
2Th 2:4
He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

 Second Coming of Jesus

1Th 4:14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
1Th 4:15
According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
1Th 4:16
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
1Th 4:17
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

Unbelievers respond by hiding in fear

Rev 6:14 The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
Rev 6:15
Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.
Rev 6:16
They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb!

Great tribulation believers rejoice after the rapture

Rev 7:9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
Rev 7:10
And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God,who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
Rev 7:13
Then one of the elders asked me, “These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?”
Rev 7:14
I answered, “Sir, you know.” And he said, “These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Apostle Peter’s Prophecy

Day of the Lord

The day of the Lord will be like in the days of Noah.  There were no survivors in Noah’s day except those who were aboard the Ark.

2Pe 3:5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water.
2Pe 3:6
By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed.
2Pe 3:7
By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men
2Pe 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
2Pe 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2Pe 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.
2Pe 3:11
Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives
2Pe 3:12
as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.
2Pe 3:13
But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness

Ac 2:16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
Ac 2:17
“ ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
Ac 2:18
Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.
Ac 2:19
I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.
Ac 2:20
The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
Ac 2:21
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

Wrath of God immediately following the rapture

Rev 6:12 I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red,
Rev 6:13
and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as late figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.
Rev 6:14
The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.
Rev 6:17
For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?”

Sound the trumpets

FIRE AND BLOOD

Rev 8:7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down upon the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
Rev 8:8
The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, Rev 8:9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
Rev 8:10
The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water—Rev 8:11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.

DARKNESS

Rev 8:12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.Rev 8:13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”
Rev 9:1
The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss.Rev 9:2 When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss.

THREE PLAGUES

Rev 9:13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God.

Rev 9:18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.

SEVEN LAST PLAGUES

Rev 11:15 The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign for ever and ever.”

Rev 15:1 I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.

Rev 16:1
Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth.”

Rev 16:2
The first angel went and poured out his bowl on the land, and ugly and painful sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped his image.
Rev 16:3
The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it turned into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.
Rev 16:4
The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood.
Rev 16:8
The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire. Rev 16:9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.
Rev 16:10
The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was plunged into darkness. Men gnawed their tongues in agonyRev 16:11 and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done.
Rev 16:12
The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.Rev 16:14 They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

Please review the 7th trumpet (Rev 11:5) to see that Jesus is now ready to enter Jerusalem the Second Time.
Rev 16:15 “Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
The Great Tribulation saints wearing white robes are already worshiping with Palm branches before His throne (Rev 7:9).

Rev 16:17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying, “It is done!”

SONG OF MOSES

Remember how God delivered the Hebrews through the Red Sea and how Pharaoh’s army perished while trying to kill them.  The last 10 plagues in Revelation bring to mind the song of Moses and deliverance by rapture for the people of God.

Rev 15:2 And I saw what looked like a sea of glass mixed with fire and, standing beside the sea, those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and over the number of his name. They held harps given them by God
Rev 15:3
and sang the song of Moses the servant of God and the song of the Lamb:“Great and marvelous are your deeds,Lord God Almighty.Just and true are your ways,King of the ages.
Rev 15:4
Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you,for your righteous acts have been revealed.”

  1. You say: “Evangelicals almost always acknowledge a second tribulation rapture which they have convinced themselves that they are not worthy to participate.”

    What do you mean?

    Also
“Please review the 7th trumpet (Rev 11:5) to see that Jesus is now ready to enter Jerusalem the Second Time.
Rev 16:15 “Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”
The Great Tribulation saints wearing white robes are already worshiping with Palm branches before His throne (Rev 7:9).”

Who is Rev. 16:15 speaking to, if believers are already gone? Who needs to be awake and watchful–who is ‘blessed’ for doing so?

  2. Jesus Christ is giving a sevenfold blessing to all of His followers who hear and act upon His Word.

    1) Rev 1:3 Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

    2) Rev 14:13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”

    3) Rev 16:15 “Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”

    4) Rev 19:9 Then the angel said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

    5) Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

    6) Rev 22:7 “Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.”

    7) Rev 22:14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.
Rev 22:15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Rev 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
